Following the critical acclaim for The Fast and the Furious: Fugitive, I-play engaged Firemint to develop the next instalment in the series (also known as "The Fast and the Furious: Streets 3D"). Initially released for mobile phones in August 2008, Pink Slip for iPhone was launched in December 2008 after extensive graphical upgrades, reworked controls and the addition of Wifi multiplayer races.
